How to Clean An Air Conditioner

Air Conditioner

In the hot summer, people can’t live without air conditioners. But do you know the air conditioner needs to be cleaned before use?

Household air conditioners tend to accumulate dirt after a period of use. The accumulated dirt is easy to breed bacteria and fungi, which can cause various diseases after contact with people, such as colds, asthma, rhinitis, etc. This dirt can also cause airflow blockage, reduce the air conditioner’s operating efficiency, increase power consumption, increase noise, and even damage the compressor and shorten its service life.

There are four steps to clean air conditioners:

  1. Turn off the power. Be sure to unplug the air conditioner before cleaning to prevent electric shock!
  2. Cleaning the exterior of the air conditioner. Scrub the housing and exposed air conditioner parts with a damp cloth. Note: The rag should not be too wet to penetrate the air conditioner’s interior and corrode parts.
  3. Cleaning the air conditioner filter. The filter unit is the core part of cleaning. Find the handle for opening the panel on the left and right sides of the air conditioner, and push it up slightly to open the board and see the filter. Remove the filter, rinse the back (concave) with clean water, and brush lightly. After washing, put it in an excellent place to dry naturally. Note: Do not rinse the front of the filter directly with water. Otherwise, it will be difficult to clean.
  4. Cleaning the evaporator. 4.1. Once the filter is removed, the evaporator fins will be visible. Spray with air conditioner cleaner. Be careful not to spray on parts other than the evaporator to avoid short circuits after turning on the machine. 4.2. Reinstall the dried filter and panel after spraying, and let it stand for 10 minutes. 4.3. Turn on the air conditioner and adjust the air volume and cooling capacity (note: not heating!) to the maximum for 30 minutes.

Thus, the entire cleaning process has been completed.
