This flexible joint is known as a “flexible duct connector.” All ductwork used for heating, cooling, or ventilation is connected to mechanical equipment that contains a fan or blower. The vibration, noise, and rattling that occurs when the fan or blower operates is transmitted into the metal ducts, which spreads the noise throughout the system.
